June has been an absolute overload (in a good way) of sports. I love the feeling that I can turn on my TV everyday and have exciting, high-level, dramatic competition across a variety of sports. So here’s a quick recap with some favorite moments highlighted:
- NBA playoffs: the Celtics coming back from down 24 in the Finals Game 4
- UEFA Champions League: finals between Chelsea and Manchester United ending in PKs with a miss from star Ronaldo
- Kimbo Slice: debut MMA TV-fight, this dude is crazy
- European Cup: beautiful goals from Germany’s Lucas Podolski, Austria’s 38 year old Ivica Vastic scoring an equalizer in the 92nd minute
- French Open: Nadal winning his 4th straight title in destructive fashion by crushing Federer 6-1, 6-3, 6-0
- US Open: Tiger Woods hitting on his last shot to force an 18-hole play-off
Still to come is Wimbledon which starts in 7 days and the semis/quarters/finals of the Euro Cup.
It’s an exciting time to be a sports fan, but I can already feel the post-euphoric crash looming in the month of July when all we have are baseball highlights on SportsCenter. Bleh. Talk about a non-exciting sport.
So I’m going to enjoy all of this while I can.
